Book art, yeah it’s a thing
Have you ever heard of book art? I only just recently came across an article about an artist who takes old textbooks, medical books, and out of date encyclopedias and turns them into breathtaking bookish sculptures. It got me thinking, “How many other people out there recycle books in this way?” Turns out – A LOT.
I know what you’re thinking. I know because at first, I thought the same thing, “How can anyone take a book and attack it with all manner of sharp objects? Blasphemy!” Well, most of the artists in the videos below touch on that exact topic. Their reasons are rational and make sense. At least, to me. You might think otherwise, and if you do (and even if you don’t), leave a comment below.

Want to make own book art?
There are tons of tutorials and patterns online that will show you how to take those old books that break your heart to toss, but are piled up in your closet or garage (college textbooks anyone? *raising my hand*).
I found an easy tutorial on Instructables with photo instructions. I also found tons of YouTube videos (of course…) on the topic.
So, what do you think? To book art, or not? Personally, I think it’s a great idea! I’m going to try this out this coming week and post the results for you to laugh at see.
Take care & be kind☆彡
